Manchester is New Hampshire's largest city which is made up of 4 sections - North, South, East and West. The city sits along the Merrimack River and is home to 110,000 people. Manchester has 3 public high schools, 4 public middle schools, 14 elementary schools and several private schools. Area institutions of higher learning include; Hesser College, Manchester Community College, St Anselm's and Southern NH University.Manchester is only a 20 minute drive to the Massachusetts border, fifty eight miles to Boston and within an hour's drive of the seacoast or lakes region but you don't have to leave Manchester to find something to do. There is something here for everyone. Areas of interest include; The Palace Theater, The Currier Museum of Art, The Millyard Museum, The SEE science center and more.
The Verizon Wireless arena is Manchester's civic center you can catch a concert or watch arena football featuring the Manchester Wolves. One of Manchester's favorite pastimes is going out to the Verizon Wireless arena to support The Monarchs our local hockey team. You can also see Manchester's double AA baseball team The Fisher Cats play at Merchants Stadium located along the banks of the Merrimack River. Manchester's newest sports team The Manchester Millrats play basketball at the "Fieldhouse" on the campus of Southern NH University.
If shopping is your thing you can head to the Mall of NH and visit over 125 stores... Or you can visit one of the many shops, boutiques or antique stores located through-out the downtown.
For those of you looking to commute,Manchester is an excellent place to hang your hat. Concord Trailways runs commuter service to Boston and other parts of the state. In recent years we've seen an influx of residents buying historic row houses making the downtown a thriving area to be in with more restaurants and stores being established all the time. Manchester's historic Amoskeag Millyard which is located along the river behind downtown has recently seen an abundance of redevelopment bringing even more restaurants and retail stores to the area.
